Runecast Analyzer licensing is technology dependent. At present, licensed technologies are:
For Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies, licensing is based on Billable Assets (BAs), with EC2 instances (except nano and micro instances), RDS instances (except micro instances), and Lambda functions considered Billable Assets. Due to the numbers involved, five Lambda functions are considered a single billable asset.
For Microsoft Azure technologies, licensing is based on BAs, with VM instances (except A0 and B1S instances), SQL (DB and Server), and Azure Functions considered BAs. Due to the numbers involved, five Azure functions are considered a single billable asset.
Pricing is per billable asset, per month, with a 1-year license paid upfront, purchased in batches of 100. All BAs under an account must be licensed, whether powered on or off, at the point of analysis. For the SMB tier, the minimum number of licenses is 10, and they can be added in packs of 10 up to 50 Billable Assets per month.
If you had 190 EC2 instances, 150 S3 buckets, 15 Kinesis streams, 30 ELBs and 10 RDS instances in total under an account, you need 200 BAs/month (because S3, Kinesis and ELB are not BAs). 200 assets would place your account in the 101-400 tier, so the price would be 200 x $4.5 x 12 months = $10,800 for the 12-months.
If you’re operating in a smaller space, we have a special offering of between 10 and 50 BAs per month. These are purchased in packs of 10 up to a maximum of 50. After this point, licenses are sold in packs of 100. If you were to have 35 EC2 instances, 2 RDS instances and 65 Lambda functions, this comes to 50 BAs per month and would cost 50 x $5 x 12 = $3,000 for the 12-months.
If you had 150 Azure VMs, 10 PostgreSQL Servers, 350 Network Security Groups and 200 Azure Functions then you would license for 200 BAs (as Network Security Groups are not billable) per month in the $4.50 tier, with a cost of $10,800 for the year.
For Kubernetes technologies, licensing is based on Billable Assets, with Nodes (containing at least one pod) considered Billable Assets.
Pricing is per billable asset, per month, with a 1-year license paid upfront. All billable assets under an account must be licensed, whether powered on or off, at the point of analysis. Licenses are purchased in packs of 10.
For example, a subscription to cover 30 nodes would sit in the 1-50 tier, so would be billed at $7,200 for the year.
For VMware technologies, the licensing model is based on the number of CPU sockets in the licensed ESXi hosts (neither number of cores nor VMs matter). Licensing is available on an annual subscription basis with 1-year and 3-year subscription options. For details of the relevant pricing tiers please contact our team, or request a quote.
